It has nothing to do with politics: Nitish on his presence at RJD’s Iftar
On Saturday, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar clarified that his attendance at the Iftar party hosted by RJD leader Rabri Devi was devoid of any political implications and was simply in response to an invitation. Kumar emphasized that such events were attended by everyone, and his presence was solely due to the invitation he received. Speaking to reporters after paying homage to freedom fighter Veer Kunwar Singh on his birth anniversary, Kumar dismissed any political motives.
The Chief Minister had attended Rabri Devi’s Dawat-e-Iftar on Friday, causing a stir in political circles. His seating arrangement alongside Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav and Tej Pratap Yadav attracted attention. During the event, Kumar engaged in conversation with Tejashwi and exchanged pleasantries.
Addressing the birth anniversary celebration of Kunwar Singh, Kumar advocated for the nationwide observance of “Babu Veer Kunwar Singh’s Vijayotsava” (victory day). He highlighted Singh’s role as a hero in the 1857 freedom struggle, emphasizing the importance of assimilating the messages of social harmony propagated by Singh to foster love, harmony, and brotherhood in society.
Kunwar Singh, born in 1777 and passing away on April 26, 1858, was a prominent leader during the Indian rebellion of 1857. Hailing from the royal Rajput house of Jagdispur in Bihar’s Bhojpur district, he led a diverse army in the uprising against the British East India Company at the age of 80. His last battle on April 23, 1858, near Jagdispur resulted in a decisive victory, and this day is commemorated as Kunwar Singh’s victory day.
